Sugar came to Kasaan in March of
2004 at the age of 5.5 years old. Due to circumstances beyond her
control, her owner could not keep her any longer and since I was
Sugar's co-breeder, she was offered to us. She has made her way
into our hearts and our lives and resides as the constant
companion of her sire AUSTIN and has become one of our housedogs.
Sugar's dam was our Ch. Kasaan's Chance Encounter... A Rugby
daughter. She has proven herself not only as a show dog....needing
just her majors to finish, she has proven she can produce as well.
Her first litter sired by Granite, produced our POPPY and in the
repeat produced STRYKER....Ch. Kasaan Sno Haven's Fortune Stryker, . Sugar made herself at
home here at Kasaan and will ALWAYS be a part of our lives and
live in our hearts forever!! Sugar was ONE SPECIAL girl and we are
SO fortunate she came into our lives!!
AUGUST 20, 2007
Dear Friends & Family,
It is with a very heart and great
sadness, I report the passing of our beloved SUGAR. Sugar
fought and lost her last battle today.. the dreaded cancer.
As most of you are aware, Sugar came to live with us in March
of 2004 at the age of 5.5 years pregnant with a mutt litter of
10, when her co-breeder/owner could not keep her any longer.
Sugar promptly warmed her way into our home and our hearts and
knew this was her home for the rest of her life.
A PHENOMENAL dog.. Sugar had it all, an incredible
temperament, amazing maternal instincts and one of the most
gorgeous Alaskan Malamutes that has ever graced this earth. An
Austin daughter, and a Rugby granddaughter, how could she not be
anything else??!
She became Austin's constant companion and our housedog,
choosing to make her 'home' under our bed every night. Never
lived her life as a housedog prior.... Sugar was THE best
housedog. She NEVER pottied in the house and LOVED any living
creature... human and animal.
Never leaving Austin's side and when he became ill, she then
became his 'caretaker'.... and God help the dog to interfere with
her duties. She knew her place on this earth and it was to take
care of whom ever or whatever Surviving numerous tough blows in
life.. Sugar had more lives than a cat. Her stoic attitude was
definitely inherited down from her grand father Rugby. She gave
more than she ever asked for in return, and LOVING her was QUITE
easy. As she would do whatever was asked of her and was just
happy to have US to love!!
Sugar produced several lovely children out of our Granite
and has passed on her amazing attributes to not only her
children, but her grandkids as well. Needing just her majors to
finish, Sugar had nothing to prove to us in that department as
she was a CHAMPION through and through!! And certainly didn’t
need the CH in front of her name to prove that! She has now
joined the rest of the KASAAN 'family' and once again will be
re united with her 'mom' Ch. Kasaan's Chance Encounter and her
dad 'Austin' A/C Ch. Terrapin Kasaan Look O' Fortune, ROM
CGC. Sugar will ALWAYS be in our hearts and our thoughts and the
only regret we have is that we didn’t get to enjoy her long
enough. Although there is now another empty spot in the
bedroom at night, I know her presence will always be there. Just like Austin's.
Rest in Peace, Sugar and THANK YOU for EVERYTHING you gave to
us!! Especially YOUR unconditional love and TOTAL devotion!
Bonnie & Steve
